Indoor Generator Design Considerations

Course Description: Indoor generator installations have multiple considerations for air flow, exhaust systems, and fuel delivery. Space available is always important as well as managing sound levels. It is important to use a sizing tool to optimize the generator installation within a room or building. This course identifies key areas to consider when designing an indoor generator and explains how to use a sizing tool to facilitate and confirm calculations. The course is free of charge.
Objectives: After this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify the three key factors that affect generator set room design
a. Explain how air requirements are determined to size intake & discharge louvers
b. Specify the proper exhaust equipment to meet required sound levels and footprint
c. State the typical requirements for fuel system design for indoor generator sets
2. Use the software tool to optimize proper fit of generator set within the room/building
